The Instalations Project with the Theertha Group
Chilled clear liquid…froth, foam and bubbles….heady feeling….sounds like champagne but not quite so flimsy and shallow…memories of hard work and English pubs in the backwaters of Sri Lankan suburbia… drinking not to forget but to enjoy the camaraderie shared over a pint or two or three - as long as I was not heading out the door on a bubble of no-man’s-land…then again…a woman who liked beer…does that symbolize the inner me? The reality of a new woman made of sterner reality with the knowledge of man and the appreciation of woman… Perhaps … Yes, defiantly not flimsy and yet whimsical enough to understand that its not as stern as the alcoholic state I’ve seen driven into some by harder stuff…the bitter taste testing and teasing the tongue into an alertness only I know I enjoy because the age of years has shown me the steady pace I must keep so I don’t let the bubbles go out… letting the age old tradition instill in me lessons of patience and the ability to enjoy life as it goes by…just like enjoying that beer… Cheers!
